How does a DJ who’s not on radio or TV do 120+ club gigs every year since 2001? Reputation! The DJ in question is one of New York’s most elite and respected club Dj’s. He has held residencies at some of NYC’s most iconic nightclubs including Crobar, Spa, One, Mansion, Pangea, Home and Marquee. Holding such residencies is a testament to his ability to make crowds dance. However, these mega-clubs are only a fraction of the size of the venues he has performed in. Finesse has DJed in Madison Square Garden (three times), Miami Arena, The Superdome, The Silverdome, Texas Stadium and The Alamodome. Since 2002, he has DJed Spring and Summer Breaks in Cancun (at Bulldog, The City, and Fat Tuesdays); and since 2003 Memorial and Labor Day weekends in Las Vegas. He has been the headline DJ at shows with 50 Cent, Rihanna, LMFAO, T.I., N-Sync and many others. He performed at Super Bowl XLII (42) opening and closing for Snoop Dogg at the Bud Bowl party; Finesse was also the featured DJ at MTV’s “Millennium Bash” party.
With deejaying being his core as an artist, it naturally led to an interest in producing. In this arena, he’s had incredible success in a short amount of time. In April 2008, he produced Ghostface Killa’s “Slept on Tony” which appears in Paramount Pictures’ blockbuster movie Ironman, and was released on Ghostface’s Greatest Hits Album. He also performed scratches on Ghostface Killa’s & Amy Winehouse’ hit song “You Know I’m no Good”. Additionally, Finesse was featured on MTV’s “Masters of the 1 & 2’s: History’s Greatest DJs” compilation CD, which also featured his Dj idol, Dj Premier, who in February of 2010 asked Finesse to fill in for him on his Sirius Satellite show “Live From Headqcourterz”. Since then Finesse has become Premier’s resident substitute when he has other engagements.
DJ Finesse is currently holding residencies at Crimson and Amnesia nightclubs in NYC. He also holds monthly residencies at Providence in the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City and recently acquired Cielo in Panama City, Panama. When he’s not deejaying clubs he’s creating music, as of May 2011 he began production on his debut album which will feature A-list artists and innovative turntablism. Despite everything he’s accomplished, DJ Finesse is continually striving to take both his music—and his production prowess—to the next level.
